Benefits of creating a feasibility report prior to designing a project

Here’s three main benefits of having a feasibility report completed prior to proceeding with a project. This applies to any type of building.

Itemized existing conditions

In a report the conditions of all items are outlined. The physical conditions and suggested repairs and/or replacement options are listed as well. If any items are affected by building code issues it is identified, along with the possible solutions to make the space code compliant.

Itemized design options

The proposed work is listed item by item as well. Not only is the proposed repairs and replacement recommendations from the existing conditions identified here, but any scope of changes and improvements the clients want for the space is mentioned here too. Besides the actual changes made, time factors like scheduling and project phasing are identified, along with its affects to the overall project.

Cost factors provided up front

Now why are all these different conditions and design options itemized? Well the final issue covered in a report is project costs. Each element is broken down in the cost estimate to allow the client to then pick and choose what parts of the scope they want to proceed with in the design and construction project. If there are items that they don’t proceed with, they can used as a starting point for a future project down the line.
