THE PROJECT
The ballet school not only needed a space for classes, but also wanted a performance space and a place to store show costumes and props. The main dance studio has the ability to transform into a performance area with seating for 50 people. The second dance studio allows for two classes to be in session at the same time, along with serving as the backstage area during a performance. The existing building has more than enough storage areas for their costumes and props. An added benefit of the existing building, which used to be a bunker for a telephone company, was that the exposed concrete ceilings and columns provided an industrial aesthetic that the school was aiming for.
